When a private boat makes sense
The shared boat leaves La Pavona about every hour from 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM and costs ₡6,000 per person. A private boat is worth it when you arrive outside those hours, travel as a family or a group, or simply do not want to wait at the dock. The price is for the whole boat, so a group shares it.
The ride through the jungle canals takes about 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes, depending on the water level. There is no luggage limit on the boat.
Coming by car?
Book a private car to La Pavona with us — from San José, SJO airport, La Fortuna or anywhere else in Costa Rica — and add the private boat to the same booking for ₡50,000. If you drive yourself, secure parking at La Pavona costs ₡10,000 per night.
